Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 88283
  • Image ID: 54764066
  • Image stack position: 63/65
  • Plane projection: Axial
  • Aux modality: SWI
  • Study description: MRI brain
  • Modality: MRI
  • System: Central Nervous System
  • Findings: A well-defined rounded cystic lesion is seen involving the subcortical white matter of the right superior temporal gyrus, following fluid signal intensity on all sequences. It measures around 1.3 x 1.3 cm in maximal axial dimensions. Moderate perilesional signal alteration is evident likely reflecting moderate perilesional gliosis with no overlying cortical involvement. On high resolution T2 weighted images, it appears to be surrounded by smaller cystic lesions of similar MR appearances. No perilesional or intralesional enhancement is seen after contrast administration. The aforementioned lesion is closely related to the adjacent right middle cerebral artery, best seen on axial high-resolution T2-weighted images and coronal T2.
