Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 55521
  • Image ID: 32575996
  • Image stack position: 17/65
  • Plane projection: Coronal
  • Aux modality: non-contrast
  • Modality: CT
  • System: Trauma
  • Findings: Fracture diastasis of the left lambdoid suture and left petrous temporal bone fracture without ossicular chain disruption or otic capsule involvement. Subtle hyperdensity of the left transverse sinus is seen on the axial images, which in the setting of fracture might raise concern for dural venous sinus thrombosis however the sagittal and coronal reformats reveal that the hyperdensity is not within the sinus, but instead represents a thin volume of acute subdural hematoma within the tentorium.
