Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 42483
  • Image ID: 19060929
  • Image stack position: 36/71
  • Plane projection: Axial
  • Aux modality: non-contrast
  • Modality: CT
  • System: Musculoskeletal
  • Findings: The atlas is rotated approximately 45 degrees to the left in relation to the axis, with subsequent anterior and posterior "subluxation" of the right and left facets respectively. In comparison, there is very little rotation between the base of the skull and the atlas. The same applies for the lower levels of the cervical spine.
