There is a mountain like hypointense, calcified disc herniation with compression of the dural sac and thoracic spinal cord. The extend of cord compression is better depicted on the transverse (axial) T2w image. The mountain-like appearance of this calcified disc herniation led to the description of the Matterhorn sign.
