Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 18923
  • Image ID: 2189690
  • Modality: CT
  • System: Paediatrics
  • Findings: The third ventricle is parallel to the lateral ventricles, indicating corpus callosal dysgenesis / agenesis. On sagittal reconstruction, there was dysgenesis of the corpus callosum, with hypoplastic rostrum, genu and body (absent splenium). There is also a midline lipoma and unexplained  frontal paramedian microcalcifications. Moreover, there is gyral thickening involving both frontal lobes, highly suggestive of pachygyria (this was confirmed on a previous MRI). Not shown here, but the coronal reconstruction showed the characteristic viking helmet sign a.k.a. moose head appearance, with elevated and prominent frontal horns.
