Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 30208
  • Image ID: 7751999
  • Image stack position: 19/20
  • Plane projection: Axial
  • Aux modality: T2
  • Modality: MRI
  • System: Head & Neck
  • Findings: The study demonstrated a T2 hyperintense mass  with prominent  flow voids, giving the "salt and pepper" sign typical of a paraganglioma (glomus tumor). In this case, the position of the tumor is classic of the carotid body tumor. It was difficult to identify  the main feeder but likely branches of the external carotid artery.
