  • Study findings: T2 images show asymmetric high signal in region of right cavernous sinus and reduction in cavernous internal carotid artery caliber.There is T2 high signal in bilateral middle ear and mastoid antrum T1 post contrast axial and coronal images show filling defect and non opacification of right cavernous sinus seen. In addition peripheral enhancing collection in right para pharyngeal fat space noted.

  • Findings: Axial and coronal contrast CT show asymmetry of cavernous sinus with bulge and filling defect on right side. There is associated right superior ophthalmic vein dilation with possible filling defect. In addition there is opacification of bilateral middle ear and mastoid , in keeping with bilateral otomastoiditis. There is also peripheral enhancing collection or abscess in right parapharyngeal fat space.
