Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 72983
  • Image ID: 51845711
  • Image stack position: 30/60
  • Plane projection: Axial
  • Aux modality: FIESTA
  • Modality: MRI
  • System: Head & Neck
  • Findings: Well-defined extra-axial lesion in the right cerebellopontine angle region measuring 32 x 35 x 34 mm, with possible areas of necrosis and intense heterogeneous enhancement. The lesion extends into the porus acusticus and proximal aspect of the right internal auditory canal but does not widen it. It causes gross compression of root entry zone and cisternal segment of right the trigeminal nerve. No obvious extension into Meckel’s cave. The lesion possibly partially encases the distal right vertebral artery. It causes mass effect with compression and contralateral shift of the brainstem, and compression of the adjacent cerebellar hemisphere and fourth ventricle with mild prominence of the lateral and third ventricles. No obvious periventricular seepage. Supratentorial brain parenchyma and pituitary gland are unremarkable. Major signal void areas of brain are normal.
