  • Findings: The MRI sequences demonstrate a caudal descent of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum (20 mm below the foramen magnum) with obliteration of the cisterna magna in keeping with Chiari I malformation. A central cystic cavity of the cervical spinal cord of low signal on T1w, and high signal on T2w, extending from the cervicomedullary junction C2 to at least T1 in keeping with a syrinx. Moderate dilatation of the ventricular system (3rd and lateral ventricles), but no transependymal shift.
