Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 58521
  • Image ID: 36271869
  • Image stack position: 142/347
  • Plane projection: Axial
  • Aux modality: bone window
  • Modality: CT
  • System: Head & Neck
  • Findings: CT scan revealed left maxillary sinus opacification and sclerotic thickened bone involving the sinus wall, associated with the presence of a hyperdense linear foreign body extending from the floor of the ipsilateral sphenoid sinus. There was also a discontinuity in the bony segment of the maxillary sinus floor which could attest to the insertion point. A second smaller fragment is identified in the sphenoid bone.
