Summary:

Description
  • Radiopaedia case ID: 25907
  • Image ID: 5110121
  • Image stack position: 4/11
  • Aux modality: T2 fat sat
  • Modality: MRI
  • System: Central Nervous System
  • Findings: A well-defined nodule is present at the foramen of Monro, splaying the fornix,

appearing isointense on T1-weighted sequences, showing no enhancement, and internally very dark on T2 weighted sequences. This nodule measures 8.5 x 8 x 6 mm in size and is almost certainly a colloid cyst. The ventricles and sulci are normal in size and there is no periventricular T2 signal change to suggest hydrocephalus. A cavum vergae is noted

No other focal brain lesion or evidence of previous hemorrhage seen. There is no extraaxial collection. The cerebellar tonsils are low lying, unchanged from the previous study. Flow voids was preserved in the major intracranial vessels, indicating patency. CONCLUSION

Likely colloid cyst of the 3rd ventricle identified.
