Notes: Benralizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody characterized by a dual mechanism of action. In particular, through the Fab fragments, benralizumab binds to IL-5Rα, thus inhibiting the interaction between IL-5 and its receptor. Moreover, via the Fc constant region, benralizumab interacts with the FcγIIIRa receptor expressed by NK cells, thereby triggering ADCC-induced apoptosis of eosinophils, mediated by Fas/Fas ligand-dependent mechanisms. Abbreviations: ADCC, antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity; IL-5, interleukin-5; NK, natural killer. |
