  • Description: A woman worker at Mazatoo Food Industry, a confectionery company in Kabul, Afghanistan carries a basket of candies to the packaging section. Mazatoo is one of the factories in Kabul where women are welcome to work as regular or part-time employees. The USAID-funded Assistance in Building Afghanistan by Developing Enterprises (ABADE) Program is assisting the company’s expansion by helping them acquire new candy-making machinery and providing technical support and food safety and hygiene training. The ABADE Program spurs economic growth in Afghanistan by assisting small and medium companies to innovate, expand, and modernize their businesses through equipment procurement and technical support. These leveraged partnerships encourage more direct investments by Afghan companies in Afghanistan.
