According to the Ministry of Education close to 32,145 classrooms in both public and private schools have been completely destroyed beyond use by the earthquake in Nepal.. A further 15,352 classrooms sustained minor damages and will need to undergo structural assessment before they may be used. Because of this, education for nearly 1 million children has been interrupted. The Education Cluster emergency response aims to reach at least 1 million children in the affected districts through the setting up of temporary learning centers and recreational activities, via education emergency supplies and psychosocial support to teachers.
